Awareness

Awareness is the state or ability to perceive, to feel, or to be conscious of events, objects or sensory patterns. In this level of consciousness, sense data can be confirmed by an observer without necessarily implying understanding. More broadly, it is the state or quality of being aware of something. In biological psychology, awareness is defined as a human's or an animal's perception and cognitive reaction to a condition or event. - Wikipedia

That being said, what is the state of human awareness? Sure we are all aware of our daily lives and those surrounding us, even things we do not necessarily want to be aware of thanks to social networking sites. With that in mind, what are we aware of? Things that deserve our attention or other things that distract us? I think that there are too many levels of awareness in the current state of things...not saying that that is a bad thing, it just happens that way. For example, did you know that on a Brown Dwarf that it rains iron? Yes, I am a fan of 'The Universe.' Also, the core of Jupiter is liquid metallic hydrogen. Amazing stuff when you're aware of it.

As a human race, we are not very aware of that great big thing above us called space or the universe. It's amazing that in our solar system, we are the only found intelligent life form and we as a society don't value this observation. There are many things on many levels that the society as a whole is not aware of that goes on beyond our naked visual sight. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that it is a bad thing, or even an avoidable thing. There are so many people here living so many types of lives, that the big picture escapes most of us. People throw away important things over money, religious beliefs, personal beliefs, etc. and are not aware of the bigger picture so to speak. The point I'm getting at is that there are many things that deserve our awareness, it is up to us to decide as a society what those are. Hopefully our focus will one day turn to studying those things that deserve our attention and allow us to lead our personal lives. I am not wanting an autonomic society doing one thing and only one thing for the benefit of human knowledge and survival, but rather individuals contributing awareness to things that are deserving as a society, and on a personal level. Thanks for your time.

Human Continuum -vs- Human Condition

So for my first post, I'll go really deep to set the tone. I've recently been dwelling on the thought of the human struggle for survival and society's views determining the human condition. As we near a dawn of new time and space theories and understandings on old principles, what will human kind do? We as an organism are programmed to process proteins and procreate our species into eternal existence. Our society however is not on the same page. We have, as societal creatures, created certain rules for how we interact on a daily basis and have completely based our society and habits on these social standards, but will that inhibit our ability to have a continuum of our species outside of this planet. I know this is a broad topic, but that is kind of the point of this musing. I pose this: the only way that the human species could continue to exist outside of our current planet would be to drop our egos and our societal standards and attempt to re-arrange what is important. Things like education and fair mindedness would have to take priority in order for us to advance to life outside of this planet. But is this possible? With all that we have set forth, can human kind bury the proverbial hatchet and realize that money and gods are not important, but rather we as a people are the answer to prolonging our species?

I think that this is good food for thought. Forget all of our differences and egos, tear down the walls that separate us and see what is left...just people. When it comes down to it, how do we decide what is for the good? We are so used to the way we have set up our own society and adhere to it because it has seemed to work for so long that we forget that we are a group and not a group of individuals. When we have no choice but to flee the earth, maybe we will realize that things should be different. Hopefully this happens before that point though.

So, I think that sets a good tone for a first attempt. Please, discuss your thoughts and try to keep this intelligent as opposed to a bashing session...after all, this is an exercise in thought.

Welcome to Gingercyde

Hello folks,

I am starting this blog to hopefully provoke a little ego free discussion / thought process. I originally had this idea to be the dark and mysterious blogger injecting free thought and questioning of society into the mix. Hopefully this will be a successful experiment in open forum free thought and see where it goes. I have no predictions for what will happen, but I hope this is an avenue of free form devil's advocate and the occasional humor relief. Please bear with me as I try to get a grip on this experiment and feel free to contribute any thoughts...after all, that is my goal. I plan on having some guests throwing topics and discussion on here so there is a wider spectrum of collective thinking taking place.

Thanks,
Gingercyde
